Hi! My name is Stephanie.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor as well as the Assistant Clinical Director here at Early Connections! I am passionate about helping children and teens navigate and manage their mental health conditions. I bring over twenty-five years of teaching experience to my practice, and enjoy working and collaborating with parents and families. One of my specialties is working with individuals with food allergy anxiety- I provide resources and am also the parent of a child with food allergies.
My goal is to make deep connections with my clients so that they feel safe and comfortable in therapy. I utilize a lot of play-based interventions and really tailor my sessions to the needs of my clients. I help children manage big, tricky feelings and help them feel empowered to take on obstacles. I also enjoy working with teens and helping them navigate their feelings and help to bring clarity to future goals. I incorporate humor into my sessions and am big on connection.
I am a mom to two boys and am also a Professor of Psychology. I enjoy family time, the beach, reading and enjoy travel. I also enjoy baseball (go Yankees!) and soccer (go Man United!). My husband and I restored a 140 year old house and I enjoy all things antique and love the idea of discovering past treasures!
I currently live in New Jersey, but Georgia was my home for seven years and I love working at ECCFC.

What Does a Session Look Like With Me?
My sessions are virtual! The sessions are really tailored to the individual needs of the client. Some sessions are more traditional talk therapy, whereas others involve art exercises, Legos, building, play-doh, games and more. I connect with my clients’ interest areas in order to build rapport, and we have a lot of fun along the way.
Favorite Modalities & Therapeutic Interventions
I use an integrative approach in therapy, tailored to individual client needs. The basis of my approach stems from Attachment Theory. The early connection and attachment that a child has to his/her caregiver is vital, and I aim to strengthen the familial bond. I utilize Child-Centered Play Therapy in my sessions and meet the client where he/she is at. Virtual play therapy can include art, books, toys, games and virtual sandtray.
For OCD and Anxiety, I often utilize Exposure Response Prevention, and for younger children, that could look like creating and mastering a bravery ladder together. I often incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy into my sessions and help clients realize they can have control over their thoughts and actions.
I believe in supporting and teaching regulation strategies to kids and their parents! I am passionate about working with families and offering support and resources to parents too.
